Broderick Rodell:

How can kidney cancer patients protect themselves against COVID and the variants?

Dr. Pavlos Msaouel:

This is indeed a very important question nowadays, the number one thing to do is vaccinate. So vaccines are safe and vaccines are effective, I myself have been fully vaccinated and I will continue to follow the state and federal guidelines, so vaccinate yourselves and follow the state and federal guidelines, talk to your doctor as well, talk to your doctor about other precautions that you in particular might need, for example, we recently had the new CDC recommendations that now recommend a booster shot, a third shot for the ones that have done the Moderna or Pfizer two shots, the vaccines in people who are what we call immunosuppressed. And what that means is that their immune systems may not work as well as other people, and very often, that includes people with cancer, so patients with cancer are often immunosuppressed and may require a booster shot.
