Deputy Director, Virginia Department of General Services Division of Consolidated Laboratory Services

Dr. Marilyn Bibbs Freeman is Deputy Director at the Virginia Department of General Services Division of Consolidated Laboratory Services (DCLS). DCLS performs clinical, environmental, and food testing for the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Dr. Bibbs Freeman received her Bachelor of Science degree in biology from James Madison University. She then went on to receive a Master of Science degree in clinical laboratory sciences, specializing in clinical microbiology from Virginia Commonwealth University. She earned her PhD from Walden University in public health with a concentration in epidemiology. Dr. Bibbs Freeman has special interests in infectious diseases as well as disparities in healthcare and health outcomes. Her PhD dissertation focused on the social determinants of health and how they relate to the acquisition and transmission of comorbid HIV and syphilis infection.
