Education

 

Perla Gilman (she/her/hers) currently serves as the Medical Laboratory Technician and Medical Laboratory Assistant Program Director, Professor, and Clinical Coordinator, and Department Chair for the Medical Laboratory Technician Department at Bunker Hill Community College in Charlestown, Mass. She earned a Bachelor’s in Science in Medical Laboratory Science from the University of Vermont in 2013 and a Master’s of Science in Clinical Laboratory Science from the University of Massachusetts Lowell in 2020. She has a total of 10 years of experience in the medical laboratory profession as both an educator and a medical laboratory professional.

In her experience as an educator in higher education, Perla has taught a variety of courses including hematology and hemostasis, immunohematology, microbiology, immunology, urinalysis, phlebotomy and specimen processing, and mycology and parasitology. 

For the last eight years, Perla has also been a lab supervisor and technical consultant for All Care Medical, a physician’s office lab (POL), in Salem, NH, which allows her to maintain an active involvement in the profession to better educate and prepare future technicians and technologists. 

Perla Gilman also serves as the Lieutenant of EMS Training Officer and Advanced EMT for the Sandown Fire and Rescue in Sandown, New Hampshire.
